If I would go back in Taiwan, I'd definitely book this hostel again. It's in Ximen area. Around 10-15mins walk from the station so its very convenient. I was with my friends so we got a private room instead of the shared ones. It was clean, cozy, and quiet. It's the type of place you just wanna sleep and relax. My only regret was not taking photos. The staff are nice and very helpful. They have a common area and wash room. They have small kitchen at nest yiu could microwave food but that's good enough and they provide utensils. They have drinking water dispenser so make sure to bring your bottle. I love that they organize different activity every week. We just couldn't join them at that time cause it was a trekking activity, we had prior a tour booked by then, and we're bunch of introverts XD. They have a WhatsApp group where all their residents could join and interact with each other. A lot of them would just invite there for their planned activity the next day. So if you're a solo traveler this is a great way to make friends and explore.

This was my first solo trip and my first time staying in a hostel, so I wasn’t used to sharing spaces with strangers. But booking a dorm-type room at MEANDER turned out to be one of the best decisions I made on this trip. All the staff members are friendly, accommodating, and professional. From the moment I arrived, they were incredibly helpful. I got there a few hours before check-in, but they allowed me to store my luggage securely while I waited for my room. When I stepped out to grab lunch, one of the staff happened to be walking in the same direction and noticed I was looking around. We ended up chatting, and he showed me a great place nearby—Lao Shan Dong Beef Noodles, which was actually already on my list to try in Taipei! There was a long line, but since he knew the staff, I didn’t have to wait long, and he even helped me order before heading off. It was such a pleasant interaction. The team also helped me call a tour operator (since the customer service line was initially in Mandarin), and we successfully rescheduled my booking. They also assisted me in booking a cab to the airport upon checkout. I didn’t get everyone’s names, but I truly want to thank the entire team! The hostel is very clean and well-maintained, including all common areas. I also loved the free tours and activities, plus the flexible meal vouchers (not just for breakfast!). Location is great—close to Ximen MRT but in a quieter, safe area, with convenience stores nearby. I had read that this is a very social hostel, which appealed to me as a first-time solo traveler. Even though I’m an introvert and wanted to experience traveling alone, I also knew I’d want some human interaction. I’m so glad I chose MEANDER because I met so many amazing people during my one-week stay. I lost count of how many new friends I made—my roommates, their friends, people from the common areas, the group chat, and those I met through activities. There’s a WhatsApp group for guests, and one of my roommates posted about hiking Elephant Mountain. It was also on my bucket list, so I joined her. Around 8–9 of us went together, and it was such a fun experience. After the hike, we were tired and hungry, so we decided to visit a night market. We even got a little lost along the way, but that just made the experience more memorable and fun. Most of us were from different countries, but it was wonderful getting to know everyone. This was my second time in Taiwan, and I was initially anxious about traveling solo for the first time. It turns out I wasn’t really alone. I came here unsure of how to connect with people from different backgrounds, but I left feeling more confident, open, and sociable. I honestly wish I could give more than 10 stars! I would highly recommend MEANDER—even if you prefer to keep to yourself—because of the clean facilities and kind staff. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Taipei, and I’ll be recommending it to my friends. Thank you, MEANDER, for making my first solo travel experience so comfortable and unforgettable!

In my one year trip around the world, this is one the best hostels I’ve been to. Many of the people I met here liked it enough to extend their stays. Room: clean, comfortable. Privacy curtains. Good AC. Toilets & Showers: clean, fantastic shower pressure, free towels Lockers: good, free Laundry: coin operated Social Atmosphere: Very, though not in a party hostel sense. There’s a lobby where it’s very easy to meet people and an active WhatsApp group. If this place scheduled daily activities, it would be a perfect hostel. Location: walking distance to major metro and a nice nighttime walking area. Bonuses: free meal vouchers and free ramen/tea/snacks. Pro tips: Stay for Friday and Saturday nights and go to Maji Square if you like dancing. There’s salsa night at 10 PM at Brass Monkey on Tuesdays. Overall: would return without hesitation.

Keep in mind that there is no elevator on the first floor..We had to carry our heavy luggage up the stairs. Thankfully the desk agent was so nice to help us. The common areas are shared but we enjoyed our stay. They even gave us a breakfast voucher !

I had a nice stay at Meander. PC is a legend! He helped me book my train and gave great recommendations when we wanted to have a night out. In terms of socialising, the hostel has a whatsapp group and does two excursions/tours every week. Its definitely more of a chill atmosphere than a super social one but you can meet people. I feel the rooftop is not used much at all by guests. It would be good to put some drying racks on there so guests can hang clothes that can't be tumble dried.
