De vervangende lindeboom op de plek van de legendarische watergevende boom waarop de Bimbaches tijdens droogte vertrouwden, die nog steeds vocht uit de passaatwolken condenseert zoals het origineel deed tot een storm hem in 1610 velde.

This place is absolutely fantastic, largely thanks to the wonderful member of staff who welcomed us. She explained everything we needed to know, answered all of our questions, and fueled our curiosity about the island’s history. She also helped us understand the importance of Garoe and why it holds such a special place in El Hierro’s heritage. It was a real pleasure to learn about one of the island’s most significant historical sites from someone so knowledgeable and passionate. P.S. Despite what Google Maps may suggest, this isn’t really a hike—it’s just a short and easy walk.

The sign post at the bottom of the road shows that the closing time is 18:00 (see pic) but when we finally got there we found it closed since the actual closing time is 17:00 (see pic). Not impressed.

Small but informative interpretation center annex shop that introduces what you will see at the sacred tree site.

🌳💧 Garoé Tree Trail Walking through the mist and vibrant green of El Hierro is like stepping back into the island's history. Every step along this trail brings you closer to the legendary Garoé Tree, a symbol of life and hope for the island's ancient inhabitants. A place where nature and legends embrace in silence. 🍃✨
