We finally visited this much talked about and highly recommended restaurant, to celebrate Father's Day. Service was professional and very attentive. Atmosphere in this small establishment is cosy. Food was delicious and very different to that being offered by others in the area. We decided to share various dishes between the three of us which was encouraged by the member of staff attending us. This allowed us to taste more dishes without over eating. Recommend a visit if you are in the area.
Our experience at Qué Leche unfortunately started on the wrong foot. Upon arrival at our reserved time, we were left standing for almost five minutes while one staff member stood with their back toward us, engaged in conversation with a man who appeared to be a supplier. There was no eye contact, no acknowledgment, not even a small gesture to signal “I’ve noticed you and will be with you shortly.” For a restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide, this felt surprisingly unprofessional and set an uncomfortable tone from the very beginning. The situation worsened when we were informed that, despite having a reservation, we would be seated outside. This had not been mentioned at the time of booking. The staff member insisted that the interior was fully booked, even though the weather was windy, rainy, and cold. What made this particularly disappointing was that throughout our entire visit, there were tables inside that remained empty from the moment we arrived until we left. Being told there was no availability indoors while clearly seeing otherwise was frustrating and left us feeling misled. Once we were finally seated, the service did improve noticeably. The staff member became warmer, friendlier, and more attentive, which made the rest of the experience more pleasant, though it couldn’t fully undo the initial impression. As for the food, it was okay but not particularly memorable. The starters were good, but one dish that stood out for the wrong reasons was the octopus. Octopus is already dense and chewy by nature, and combining it with two additional heavy ingredients, topped with cheese, resulted in a dish that felt overly compact and unbalanced. It was something you almost had to swallow with wine or water rather than truly enjoy bite by bite. Overall, Qué Leche has potential, but for a Michelin Guide restaurant, the front-of-house experience and lack of transparency around seating fell well below expectations. While the later service was friendlier and the food acceptable, the inconsistencies made the visit disappointing rather than special.
Old Town Gran Canaria: Come for the Cockroaches, Stay for Qué Leche Let’s be honest, wandering the Old Town streets of Gran Canaria feels a bit like a live-action survival game, dodging cockroaches with more confidence than most locals. But somehow, right in the middle of it all, Qué Leche appears like a mirage… but one that serves sangria and doesn’t charge for disappointment. From the moment you walk in, the staff welcomes you like you’ve just returned from war (which, frankly, you have..... roach war). The vibe? Chill, warm, effortlessly cool. The kind of place where you can be picky, gluten-free, vegan, or just plain annoying, and they’ll still smile and bring you something delicious. The sangria? Dangerously drinkable. Like, “cancel your plans” good. Fresh, balanced, and clearly crafted by someone who understands your soul needs more than just fruit and wine.....it needs joy. The food? Listen, I’ve eaten all over Gran Canaria, but Qué Leche is that restaurant. That safe haven where the food is bold, fresh, beautifully plated, and packed with flavor. Whether you're vegan, pescatarian, carnivore, or simply hungry with no idea what you're doing, they’ve got you. Even the tamale-leaf mystery dish was divine. I didn’t ask questions, I just ascended. My belly was happy. My picky family? Obsessed. Honestly, I think they’d trade me in just to keep eating here on a loop. If you’re in Gran Canaria and not eating at Qué Leche… well, you’re just doing life wrong.
We found this place via the Guía Repsol where it got 1 solete. Food was delicious and creative . We shared 5 dishes with 4 people plus a dessert. 3/4 of the dishes are with fish and have a Japanese touch in it . Creative combinations like for example Foie with smoked eel . It was a pleasure dining here and also the 2 bottles of white wine we had (Manda Huevos) were inspiring and tasty .
Top 5 ever dining experience we’ve had. Food was absolutely tremendous, service great (although struggling a bit with English), wine was fantastic. To be able to dine for less than 100 EUR for 2 people is mind blowing. Will definitely come back. Reservations required.
