Polite Provisions is one of those San Diego cocktail bars that immediately stands out for its atmosphere and attention to detail. The space feels like a vintage apothecary brought to life, with a nostalgic design that still manages to feel modern and lively. It is the kind of place that invites you to slow down and settle in. The cocktails are the real focus here and are consistently well executed. Each drink feels thoughtfully built with house-made syrups, bitters, and creative flavor combinations that go beyond the standard bar menu. It is a place where the menu changes enough to keep things interesting, but the quality stays steady. The energy inside is social and upbeat without feeling chaotic. It works well for a date night, a group meetup, or starting an evening in North Park. Overall, it is a polished cocktail experience that feels intentional from start to finish and holds its reputation for good reason.

A warm and lively spot to hangout on a Friday or Saturday over great cocktails. The staff were very nice and there was live music on Saturday evening. Navigating inside gets a little bit tricky as the place attracts a sizable crowd and has a relatively small interior space.

Super crowded and lively spot with great live music and such a fun atmosphere. Sitting outside while it was raining made the experience even more unique. The Strictly Business cocktail was amazing with delicious honey notes, and while the crab rangoon was crispy, the egg roll was definitely my favorite!

Polite Provisions is a masterclass in the "apothecary-style" cocktail bar, and easily one of the most visually stunning spots in North Park. From the moment you walk in, the marble countertops, gold fixtures, and tiled floors make you feel like you’ve stepped into a 1920s pharmacy—but with much better prescriptions. The drink menu is extensive and thoughtfully curated, focusing on high-quality bitters, tinctures, and sodas made in-house. Whether you’re a fan of a classic Old Fashioned or want to try one of their inventive house creations, the craftsmanship is consistently top-tier. Even when the room is packed—which is often, given its popularity—the bartenders remain focused and professional, treating every pour like an art form. One of the best things about the experience is the ability to grab food from Fortunate Son next door and have it brought right to your table. There is something uniquely satisfying about pairing a sophisticated, spirit-forward cocktail with a plate of high-quality Chinese food. It’s a North Park staple for a reason, perfect for a date night or a late-night catch-up with friends when you want an atmosphere that’s lively but still feels elevated.

Polite Provisions in North Park is an excellent cocktail bar with great drinks and an easygoing atmosphere. It gets very busy very quickly once the crowd rolls in, and ordering can be a bit tough during peak times, but the bartenders do a great job checking in and making sure you’re taken care of. Street parking can be hard to find, so plan ahead. Their Polite Provisions Old Fashioned is easily one of the best, they used a barrel select ER10 - well balanced and perfectly executed. Definitely worth the visit if you’re into quality cocktails. Food can be ordered next door and will be brought to you. We usually try to stop in every visit to San Diego.
