I and my husband decided to go to Tom Heaney's restaurant when we watched him on The Great British Menu. We are visiting Wales and we wanted to celebrate our anniversary dinner. It was the best food we both ever had. We opted for the menu of the month with wine pairing. Every dish on the menu was divine. Especially cuttlefish noodles in broth was just to die for. We could have just eaten that for the whole meal. I am allergic to walnuts so the chef subbed pickled walnut chutney with black garlic puree for cauliflower croquet. My husband tasted both and told me black garkic puree was even better. Also I requested no white wine for wine pairing. Our waiter Brendon got me sparkling wine from Sussex and Orange wine from Argentina as replacements. And both were fantastic. Even the pinot noir he got me for my red mullet entree was great. He definitely knows his wines. Cudos to him. Mezcal cocktail was delicious. All in all this was the best gourmet experience ever. When in Cardiff we highly recommend Heaney's.

Came here for a Sunday lunch, the food was of good quality with a delicious sourdough and marmite butter to start, the potatoes however were a bit tough on the outside and slightly undercooked on the inside. It would have been nice to have more greens to share as they were delicious. The service was not bad at all but felt a little routine and not particularly outstanding. The layout of the entrance and the hosts podium is a bit awkward with steps between the door you enter in and where you are greeted as there is seating on the lower part too and it doesn’t really flow very well. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. It felt a bit more pricy than what it was worth and felt a bit more of a regulars/locals type venue but we did enjoy our meal. It was located out of our way so we did travel there especially for the meal which maybe meant we had higher expectations than if we had just been in the area.

We enjoyed an amazing 10-course tasting menu at this restaurant last Saturday afternoon. I can’t believe we had not been to this restaurant before this. Impeccable service and exquisite food! I was a marmite hater but the marmite butter was excellent. I highly recommend this place.

My girl and I had a tremendous birthday lunch comprising the Short Taster 7/8 course menu - we couldn't do the wine pairing as we were driving (cue violins). Each course was a delight - small plates as per a taster menu, each was packed full of flavour, impeccably cooked and an exciting experience. It's difficult to pick favourites so I won't - it was all fantastic. I thought the lamb dish needed more beetroot. The service was faultless, as is the decor. I'd prefer jazz on the playlist, but that's just a personal preference. Worth every penny.

We had a really excellent meal at Heaney's ahead of the rugby. We had the shorter tasting menu and each element was absolutely delicious. One of the best meals we've had in a while, and that's from two London foodies.
